Parent & Carer Group

Stubbin Wood Parents and Carers Group

The School’s Parent and Carers Group helps parents to actively participate with our school and their child’s education.

The Group is widely supported and holds regular meetings with the Executive Principal and Senior Leaders to give their input into future plans for the school.  In recent years, the number of events hosted by the group (often within the school) has increased exponentially with developments of sub-groups such as the cookery group which was established during Healthy Wellbeing Week.

Parents have access to a Parents Meeting Room and work closely alongside staff on special projects; these are as diverse as the highly popular Christmas and Easter, the School Sports Day, school performances and Meet the Tutor events whilst the high-quality range of craft products on sale at fundraising events highlight the talent and creativity of members of our school community.

The Parents Meeting Room provides a special environment for parents to meet specialists and to support EHCP Reviews, organising fundraising projects and discussing student progress in a quiet area.

Our Parents Group members have been happy to share their perceptions with HM inspectors from Ofsted, IQM assessors and Quality Assurance professionals, because they now feel part of the school and are confident in how we all work together to create the best learning experience for their child.

Friends of Stubbin Wood

To help to raise funds for the school, the Parents Group are closely involved with the school’s charity, ‘Friends of Stubbin Wood’.  The Friends are working hard to support the funding of a new Awe & Wonder Room which will bring 21st Century sensory learning to the heart of our education offer.

The Group have recently established a Craft Facebook page, advertising items they have made and offer a service to make ‘bespoke’ pieces for individuals. This is a remarkable group of parents and carers who have become integral to the school and we are extremely grateful to them for their support.

For more information, please contact the Parents & Carers Group co-ordinator, Pat Lyons, at school.
