At Stubbin Wood School, we believe that it is really important for our students to have practical experience of work before leaving us. This really helps our students to shape their thoughts, develop their skills and focus on jobs that they will enjoy in the future.
Volunteering is a fun way to learn new skills, meet new friends and experience a different range of job roles.
The following websites link you with a wide range of organisations that have volunteering opportunities.
An internship is a period of work experience offered by an organisation, lasting for a fixed period of time, anywhere between a week and 12 months. They are typically undertaken by students looking to gain relevant skills.
Employers use these placements to assess a student's or graduate's capability and often recruit employees from their interns, rather than advertise their vacancies externally.
Preparing for Adulthood is an organisation that supports people with SEND to have equal life opportunities as they move into adulthood. Here you’ll find a range of links to organisations that offer support in finding your internship.

We are currently seeking work experience opportunities for our pupils in Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, and we would greatly appreciate your support.
As part of our ongoing commitment to preparing our young people for adulthood, we aim to give them the chance to experience a variety of workplaces and roles in real-world settings. These placements help our pupils build confidence, develop new skills, and explore potential career paths.
If you are an employer, a family member, or know someone who could offer even a short work experience placement (as little as one day), or if you have suggestions for local businesses that might be interested, I would love to hear from you.
Please contact c.wiltshire@stubbinwood.teameducation.org to discuss opportunities or share your ideas.
Thank you for helping us make a real difference in the futures of our young people.
