    Attention Autism Training

Over the past half-term, staff at Stubbin Wood Mansfield have enhanced their practice in Attention Autism following training from Speakeasy. This intervention, created by Gina Davies, aims to develop children's focused attention and communication through four stages:

    • Stage 1: The Bucket - Engaging objects capture attention.
    • Stage 2: The Attention Builder - Visual activities sustain attention.
    • Stage 3: The Interactive Game - Encourages turn-taking and communication.
    • Stage 4: The Independent Activity - Promotes independence and skill transfer.

Alongside Attention Autism, the Key Stage 1 class is embracing elements of The Curiosity Approach, creating enriched environments where students are encouraged to explore, investigate and follow their natural interests.

By using real-world objects, open-ended materials and calming, thoughtful spaces, staff are enabling children to develop vital skills such as:

    • Sustained attention
    • Independent exploration
    • Sensory regulation
    • Problem-solving
    • Confidence in communication

Staff have shown commitment to improving their delivery, positively impacting students' engagement.
